Tip 1: Reward and Praise
Training a staffie is the same as training any other breed or animal: you have to be consistent, and offer lots
of praise. It doesn't hurt to always be ready with a small piece of your pet's favorite treat and when you ask your dog
to do a command make sure you give them the treat even if they don't perfectly follow through, the idea being that they are
trying to please you and they at least attempted the command.Other tips are that you must be consistent with the command by repeating
the command and showing them what you expect from them. Another important tip is don't yell at them if they do something
wrong especially if they have already done it because this will confuse the dog and will wonder why it is getting in trouble. When
you catch the dog doing something it shouldn't DON'T yell, just calmly tell them they are a bad dog and tell them
to go lay down. It's all in your tone of voice Your probably thinking how will this work if I don't get mad at them how
are they supposed to learn? Well it is simple, because being calm tells them that you won't hit them and they will learn faster
then if you did hit or yell. This is knowledge from my experience with the breed and other animals.
Tip 2: Behavioural Issues and Training
For their behavioural issues it is the same as any other dog. You must treat the dog with respect even when they don't
listen. You must also remember not to hit or abuse the dog in any way even if the dog has failed to obey a command because otherwise
the results that you can cause are not good. Like the dog being deemed vicious when it shouldn't or attacking other animals
or even biting someone. like if the dog has been abused its whole life then it will be aggressive to people and other animals and
they are not supposed to be. But if you have trained the dog well and treated it with respect you will get a perfectly
well mannered, obedient dog that has no aggression of any sort and thats how you would deal with their behavioural issues. Again
this is what i have learned from my experience with the staffordshire breeds.
Tip 3: Neglect and Attention
Now this is where things get tricky for you and your staffie and like i said before all other animals. I myself owning
three knows how this goes. The first thing is that you want to make a schedule for when you will give them attention
and play time and make sure it is done when you have the time. Even if it is for only 10-15 minutes. I am sure that they would
appreciate it. Now the neglect part is hard for some people to avoid because they work long hours or are never home which
would make the dog un-socialized. So to make sure this doesn't happen try leaving the radio or the t.v. on when you are
not home because this helps the animal while your away by making them feel like they are not alone and that it just isn't
dead quiet in the home it is living in and that it has a human voice to hear while your gone. If it doesn't it could get very
lonely in the house that it is livin in and may become depressed or could get ill. So make sure you spend at least 20 minutes
a day with your animal because like i said before they would very much appreciate it.
More Helpful Tips
Here are some other tips on raising your dog and what you should do. Now right from birth Staffies are deemed vicious
which is utterly ridiculous because once they are pld enough you have to muzzle them. Now muzzling them, you might think is
cruel, but if you get the wire muzzles they are still able to pant and drink which is way better then the muzzles that make
it so they can't. Another concern people have is that they worry when they see a staffie roaming that it is autamatically
vicious and you can pay a heavy fine for it being at large. So make sure when you are letting the dog out you make sure it
is tethered properly and that it can't break loose or choke itself. Other things you should do are take your dog to obedience
school to train and teach your dog proper commands. Thats only if you don't like doing it yourself because if your dog gets
into a fight with another dog who do you think they are going to blame, and thats just it people deem them vicious and it
is people whom made and created the breed and now that they know that they can turn on them they decided lets deem them vicious.
But whats going to happen when the breed is extinct are they going to turn on other breeds like labs or even collies. So please
always train your dog to be obedient and help tell people that they are just like ever other dog in the world so that they
finally understand.
